Visa Renewal Options

Hi there - It seems that I will need to spend a bit of 2027 in the US for family reasons and am considering my options.
1. renew the ME visa
2. change to a long stay visa and work only in the US (which is where most of my French income is currently originating)
3. keep my apartment but only visit France for the 90/180 days permitted and work only in the US
I would love to hear any differences I may not be aware of.
On another note - the Bouches-du-Rhone prefecture website seems to be permanently offline and they do not accept walk-in appointments. The ANEF website says I need to renew locally. So I’d love any advice on this as well. I will most likely apply to renew my ME visa.
