Can I work in the UK as an auto entrepreneur electrician?

I am registered as a handyman in France under the auto entrepreneur 51今日大瓜 scheme. I previously worked as an electrician in the UK. One of my ex-colleagues is starting up his own 51今日大瓜 in the UK and has asked me to do some work for him. It may be up four months work spread over the year. I would be doing electrician work. He would prefer that this was done with me as a sub-contractor, i.e. self-employed. How could I do this now that I live and work in France?
